William Burkitt was convicted three times for manslaughter.

In 1915 he was convicted of the manslaughter of Mary Jane Tyler who he killed on 28 August 1915 in Hull. He was released on 16 November 1924.

In 1925 after having served 9 years and having been out for 12 months he killed Ellen Spencer 44 and was sentenced to 10 years.

In 1939 he was convicted of the manslaughter of Emma Brookes who he was living with at Pleasant Place, Neptune Street, Hull and sentenced to penal servitude for life.

He died on 24 December 1956.
